Andy Stanley has authored many books, but the first one that I read was The Grace of God. I really liked the book. His way of explanation and expounding on the subject of grace was easy to understand. I added his name to my list of authors to read. I just finished Enemies of the Heart which had been previously published as It Came From Within and all I can say is Wow! In this current world many are subject to the emotional devastation of the four destructive forces that he discusses – guilt, anger, greed, and jealousy.
Andy digs deep into the foray of emotional destruction along with the whys and what-fors of relational entanglements. There is much to learn from this book. This should be a nightstand book or even a coffee table book! He does not just explain the negative side of those four emotional forces but also shows what the opposite side will bring to your life. He says, “Confess, forgive, give, celebrate. These are the habits that will change everything. Once these four routines define the rhythm of your heart, life will be noticeably different. Why? Because these habits empower you to settle your outstanding debts with others, God, and even yourself. Removing the debt-to-debtor dynamic from a relationship paves the way to better communication, understanding, and openness.”
I received this book free for review from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group.
